Episode 2: "TO TOKYO" Saved at the last possible second, Soujun wakes to find himself strapped to the roof of a speeding car — driven by the flamboyant stranger, Alice, who is hauling him straight toward the massive metropolis of Toh-kyoh. She explains the truth about the relic he swallowed: the Ash of Nue, the dark thing that turns its host into a Fuser. Worse, Soujun discovers his sister Utaki is riding along too, stubbornly set on living in TOKYO no matter what — just as the city's underworld begins to scramble for the boy who now carries the ash. Their road is cut short — literally. A figure waiting in the road turns out to be Yu-ri, a swordsman who knows Alice, and with a single stroke he slices the car clean in two. Calling it his own twisted form of mercy, Yu-ri moves to end Soujun then and there. Alice flies into a rage and levels a pistol at him, and Soujun, in Fuser form, squares up for a brutal duel. Yu-ri's living blade, Ten, shifts into its Ittan-momen cloth form and hammers Soujun down; just as Soujun hauls Yu-ri in for a finishing knee strike, his chest engine runs dry and he collapses. As Yu-ri closes in for the kill, an enraged Utaki steps between them with a murderous glare — and the standoff carries straight into Episode 3.
