Episode 22: GHOSTS | DURRUN by Aito Kitazaki

Episode 22

Episode 22: “GHOSTS” The collision at the tunnel’s mouth dissolves into a frantic apology contest — until Shimii spots the katana at Yu-ri’s hip, mistakes him for the Tousei-kai, and flees at full speed. Walking the tunnel toward Tama Cemetery, Yu-ri recalls Ojiki’s warning about the “ghosts”: outcasts who lost their place in TOKYO and drift into CHOFU to scrape by on crime — and the old man’s quiet apology for shutting him away in a scrap of TOKYO all those years ago. Yu-ri lays out the road ahead: once the shadow concealer’s errand is done, he and Soujun part ways. His aim is to become the boss of TOKYO and take everything back, while Soujun — a mere tourist again now that the MACHIDA incident has been erased — should stay on the surface side and humor his sister’s sightseeing. But a muttering old man in the dark sends Soujun sprinting straight into the outlaws’ den, where playing dead earns him nothing but a one-million-renny entry fee. Yu-ri arrives, sizes up the small-time gang at a glance, and asks the one question that freezes the air: what if he has no intention of paying at all? Meanwhile, at a ruined tobacco stand, Buyo hints that the ghosts haunting this place are not the crew alone.
