It opens on a memory: their mother smiling, and a small Utaki demanding to know what it means that she said look after you — does she want to see me, does she like me, which is it — until her brother runs out of answers. On the DOUDOU rooftop Soujun admits he never found one. He has a scrap of their mother’s voice to hold on to; Utaki has nothing, so of course she believes she was thrown away. Knowing it will not make Yu-ri think her any less selfish, and Soujun does not argue that she is. He would just like to answer her demands while he can, and he still believes their mother did not abandon them. Yu-ri calls that sacrificing your own life for irresponsible parents. His case is colder: no one who was discarded can understand the one who did it, and Utaki is simply aiming her hatred at the only person she is allowed to lean on. Carrying her guilt for them is not a decision. Last night proved where it leads. Live your own life. Soujun says, gently, that Yu-ri has understood none of it — he has no dream of his own, and being pushed around suits him. Downstairs Komugi tells Utaki about the TOKYO stamp rally and its rumoured ridiculous prize. She comes up the stairs at a run to announce she is conquering TOKYO, starting with Zone 3. At the Carabiner post, TW18 hears of blood on the outside of the south gate, Janga still missing, and takes a call from Yamori.
